Just a few images created at the Dundee Literary Festival. Children from p2 illustrated a letter of the alphabet with an animal made from geometric shapes. Sorry only managed to snap a few of the fantastic artwork created.

The Heart and the Bottle

This new book by Oliver Jeffers is just lovely. Reminds me of Granpa by John Burningham - in fact it sort of takes up where Burningham finishes. Where Granpa ends on the empty chair - The Heart and the Bottle follows the grieving process to a happier conclusion. Very poignant and lovely. Brilliant for a child experiencing the death of a loved one. I bought this book in the Foyles at Kings Cross St Pancras on my recent trip to London. They have a fantastic Children’s section. Crammed full of absolute gems.

I’ve been working so hard on the roughs for book 2 I forgot to do my Christmas shopping and only a week to go. Eek!
I was through in Edinburgh last night at a BRAW meeting which was really nice. I met some lovely writers and illustrators. I feel very privileged to be (sort of) part of this world - sometimes I feel like I have fallen down a rabbit hole.

Apple Pie ABC the book is finished and has a publication date of August 2010. It’s published by the lovely people at Orchard. I’ve just put up a holding page for the website you can have a look here. I’m hoping to put up some cool resources for parents and toddlers in the near future.
