Apple Pie ABC, my first book, was published in the UK in 2010 by Orchard Books and in the US and Canada by Disney Hyperion. A second book with Orchard, One Two That’s My Shoe, a follow up to Apple Pie ABC, was published in hardback in May this year. Apple Pie ABC was long listed for the UK Literary Association award and shortlisted for the Scottish Children’s Book Award in 2011. I was included in Books For Keeps Rising Talent in March 2011.
Between September 2010 and May 2011 I was Scottish Book Trust and Home Starts Early Years writer in residence. Based in Paisley, it involved Nursery and library talks and presenting CPD sessions for Home Start volunteers, nursery staff and library staff. The main remit of the residency however was a collaborative writing project with the Renfrewshire Home Start family group. The result of this is ‘Little Mouse’, a picture book which will be published by Orchard in Feb 2012 and will also be distributed in Scottish Book Trust’s Bookbug bag to approx.60,000 families in Scotland.
I am currently working on my fifth book with Orchard.
